History of Taiping


Taiping
Taiping was the capital of the district of Larut Matang and Selama. Before 1937, theTaiping was the capital of Perak. Taiping is the old name Klian Pauh. Klian means mine. Constituency is also a small mango.
Taiping means "SAFE" or "PEACE" in the Hakka language. Conflict broke out of the country immigrant tribes China is doing to mine tin in Larut district of Ghee Hin and Hai San, which so many in the Kelian Pauh time. Association of a triad of two rival factions were due to the tin mines and waterways. After obtaining a consensus for peace, Taiping was chosen as the new name for the town in the district of Larut.

Taiping Municipal Council

Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) was established on 1 September 1979 agreement result of the 1714 Act, the Local Government Act in 1976. MPT is now an area of 186.46 sq km, is a combination of eight Local Government Management Board. This area includes urban and suburban areas.

  • 111.47 sq km is the area of operations of the given service and charged an annual assessment

History

  • 1880's the state capital of Perak , relocated from New Town to Taiping after JWW Birch was killed by Dato 'Maharaja Lela in Pasir Salak in 1875.
  • 1937 Taiping no longer be the capital of Perak. Ipoh was chosen as the capital because it is located in the middle of the state of Perak.

Pulau Kelumpang

In 1987, Shell Island aka Pulau Kelumpang declared the area as there are historical artifacts in 1000.Artifact is the result of excavations Department of Museums and the National Archives. Various ancient artifacts were found. Among the skulls of human,human skeletongravepots pansbeads and ornaments. All material is displayed at the Archaeological Museum Lenggong.
The effects of Proto Malay archaeological Compartment 11 was found in an area of 10.3 hectares at Shell Island and has 5 small island of approximately between 1 hectare and 3 hectares. This site is very special because it is the only archaeological site that existed Mangrove Forests inSoutheast Asia.
